Featured Piece of the Month

"Copper River"

Coming from the Greek “kolla”, “to paste”, a collage is an art form using small objects and unrelated bits to form a composition. It can be described as an assemblage or collection of elements. “Copper River” was inspired by my memories of the Kings River in the San Joaquin Valley. Composed of thin copper and tissue paper and acrylic, this piece brought back those feelings of seeing the river’s water tumbling over the rocks to the waterfall below.

About the artist

Native Southern California Artist, Ramona Hovda’s portraits and nudes evoke the concept of humanity and explore life in its honest form. At their core, her subjects capture the themes of pain, sorrow, and an unapologetic reality. Other original works include scenes that explore the relationship and convergence of geometry, structure, shape, and line found in the natural world. Ramona’s artwork utilizes a wide variety of media, including acrylics, pastels, watercolor, ink, and found objects.
